Eurotto – lottery number generator

Decided to knock this together instead of using the online lucky dip on the National Lottery website. Click here to download.

Simply click either large logo button to generate one line of numbers (takes about 20 seconds to really randomise the numbers).

If you win or find it useful, please consider a donation :-)

+Extract 0.4.1.2 release

Available here

Continuing investigation of some Darwin configurations, its no longer possible to purchase a license for 0.4.1.1.

With 0.4.1.2 if your Sky hard disk is detected and valid recordings are found then you can use this version and license purchase is available to you.

I’m still investigating this problem, hopefully find and fix real soon.

Darwin disks… a bug

I’ve come across a problem with certain Darwin disks, not being parsed correctly. Sky+ and original Sky HD systems are unaffected.

If I’ve asked you to try a test version of +Extract (link by email) and you see the error as below then unfortunately your disk is one of these. I am working on a solution and hopefully publish something soon.

XTV Write protect Windows app

While Stuart’s excellent XTV read only driver (available on the Copy+ website) is a much better solution for protecting your XTV hard disk from being infected by Windows, I needed a solution that would work with Windows 7 x64 and Windows Server 2008 x64/R2 (and without a frig for an unsigned x64 driver).

So I came up this Windows tray application that sleeps while responding to hard disk ‘arrival’ messages. If it finds an XTV Fat32 disk it will mark it read-only, hopefully before Windows attempts to write to it (recycle bin, system restore etc):

Its a free download but link is only available on request – I’d like to keep an eye on interest.

+Extract 0.4.1.1 – Darwin EPG support

Ok folks, here it is.

Now be advised that the Darwin format allows multiple recordings within a single recording directory. To date the development time I’ve managed to put into this has only allowed me to default to the first recording specified in the SQL database file, for any given recording directory. This isn’t as bad as it sounds. Most recordings reside in their own directory – very few directories have multiple recordings from my experience so far.

As such, the release is published as is and without warranty. Please don’t inundate me with requests if you find missing recordings – they aren’t missing – just not being found (as yet). If you refit the hard disk into your Sat box they will be there.

I’ve also fixed an annoying bug that prevented hard disk detection when a removable media (ie SD card) slot is present, but vacant of media.

Also, the converter in +Extract is useless with HD content. Unfortunately you will need to find your own conversion solution for HD content.

Use the email me in +Extract if you need any help.

Cheers.

Neil.

Dynojet Power Commander III Usb faulty

Thought that Google might like to know that the Dynojet Power Commander III usb I installed (from new) in my 2004 VFR800 VTEC has developed  a fault. For a solid state device, securely sealed and installed in a weatherproof location on the bike is a poor reflection on the longevity of Dynojet’s products, don’t you think?

Dynojet’s response? Offered 25% off a new Power Commander (retail around £280).

Poor show Dynojet – not a good advert for future business.

Sky HD Darwin extraction… woohoo!

Finally +Extract supports the Darwin planner format. A release soon!

Eaglesham Cross lights removal…

Copy of open email letter of objection to East Renfrewshire Council regarding the proposal to remove the traffic lights and replace with traffic calming and a mini roundabout:

I am a native resident of Eaglesham and have 2 children (8 & 6) attending the primary school.

The proposal to replace the lights with traffic calming and a mini roundabout is both ridiculous and incomprehensible. This proposal and with the removal of the ‘lollipop man’ from the Eglington Arms hotel now leaves no safe crossing for our children.

Having grown up in Eaglesham I have witnessed many accidents at the cross before the lights were installed and can categorically state that the only safe option for the junction is to leave as is. An alternative would be to close the Moor Road to through traffic although after speaking with your colleague Mr Dermot McGonigle a few weeks ago on the telephone he said that East Ayrshire Council vetoed that proposal when planning for the Windfarm was ongoing.

It is clear to us that the danger in the junction is from transient vehicles – commercial vehicles, people commutting etc. Given the transient nature of these road users they probably are unaware of the risk they pose to young children by their ignorance of the presence of a school. From my experience these categories of road users have a careless attitude to traffic calming and mini roundabouts.

The council is in place to serve the needs of the people. This proposal certainly doesn’t benefit anyone as far as we can tell other than saving running and maintenance costs of the lights.

We hope you take this objection on board and abandon the proposal on the grounds of safety.

+Extract 0.4.0.9 release

Available here while awaiting Skycopyplus.co.uk to be updated.

Donor Darwin EPG hard disk required

I need a physical hard disk from a Darwin EPG based Sky HD system to try and get Darwin EPG support added into +Extract. Unfortunately I am unable to guarantee I’ll succeed or return of the donor hard disk. A sacrifice to the EPG gods…

Contact me through Copy+ forums or use the ‘email me’ menu option in any version of +Extract.
